Reported Issue: Remote starts fine but only runs for only approx. 10 seconds then shuts down:
Situation: New Install w/o Tachometer Connection
Specific Vehicle, System or Bypass Interface: General troubleshooting
Possible Cause: System programmed for "Voltage Detection" Setting with Voltage detection level set to high:
Possible Fix: Program system for less-then 1/2 Volt detection (<0.5)
Reason for the adjustment: The system is not detecting the vehicle's alternator kicking in after remote start/crank. The system needs to detect at least 1/2 a volt raise in the voltage levels on the interior side of the vehicle's wiring; on the wires the remote starter wires are directly connected to. After start, the system waits to detect the voltage to raise and if no raise over 0.5V is detected within a short time the system will shut down assuming the vehicle did not start or stalled (many system models will automatically try to re-start the vehicle again on its own).
Recommended Fix: Hard-wire the system's tachometer input wire to the vehicle's tachometer wire and program tach-signal to system. Using any system's tachometer input option is the best way to go 98% of the time.
